Nearly 1,000 exhibitors from 30+ countries and regions unveil latest products, top-selling classics in industry’s grand reunion

SINGAPORE, 27 September 2022Jewellery & Gem WORLD Singapore (JGW Singapore) is officially here! Opening its doors at the Singapore EXPO today, Asia’s biggest B2B jewellery sourcing destination of the year is reuniting international trade buyers with close to 1,000 exhibitors from 30+ countries and regions.

Running through Friday, the industry meeting point for all that’s new and exciting in the world of jewellery is segmented into 20+ pavilions with distinct show floor attractions representing the entire jewellery value chain.

“After nearly three years of a pandemic-induced break, JGW is back to provide international buyers a sourcing experience like never before. It is renewing its position as the ultimate launchpad for the global jewellery industry, the marketplace where powerful connections are made, and the destination where trends that will shape demand in the coming seasons are revealed,” said David Bondi, Senior Vice President of Informa Markets in Asia.

“JGW is a sourcing event that goes beyond products. It’s as much about people, ideas and inspiration. It’s about the power of industry stakeholders getting together. These are the real strengths of JGW, and we are absolutely thrilled that suppliers and buyers, who are among the best and the brightest in the trade, are here with us for our community’s grand reunion in Singapore.”

The return of JGW is symbolic of the jewellery community’s resilience and resoluteness to rebuild and emerge stronger from the global upheaval caused by the pandemic.

“There is no substitute for the camaraderie that you get from shared experiences on the show floor,” said Celine Lau, Director of Jewellery Fairs at Informa Markets Jewellery. “In spite of what we have all been through in the last few years, we, as a community, have plenty of reasons to be upbeat and hopeful. JGW offers us the chance to engage in genuine exchanges with customers, get to know our industry colleagues in a more personal and meaningful way, and more importantly, uplift each other as we strive to create a brighter future for our industry together.”

Warm welcome

Nothing beats experiencing JGW in person, and even more so when the event is held against the backdrop of a vibrant city like Singapore. The Lion City is honoured to be the host destination of Asia’s largest B2B jewellery trade show of the year, said Poh Chi Chuan, Executive Director of Exhibitions & Conferences at the Singapore Tourism Board.

“Taking place physically for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, the much-awaited return of this iconic event is a strong sign of confidence and recovery in Asia,” Poh said. “Business events like Jewellery & Gem WORLD are invaluable platforms for knowledge exchange and the forging of partnerships between businesses from all over the world. I am sure for many of you, attending this event after a two-year hiatus may feel very much like a homecoming, and Singapore hopes to be able to be your host for many more years to come.”

Charles Ho Nai Chuen, President of the Singapore Jewellers Association, said the city-state’s jewellery community is delighted that JGW is making its triumphant return in Singapore.

“It is with great joy and honour that Singapore is the chosen venue for the world’s renowned international Jewellery & Gem show. This will definitely strengthen the reputation and image of Singapore as the hub for jewellery sourcing in the world,” Ho said.

For the first time since its launch nearly four decades ago, the industry’s flagship B2B fair is being held outside of Hong Kong to make the show more accessible to international suppliers and buyers who are missing the vitality, serendipity and inspiration brought about by physical events. Singapore’s decision to open up its borders for quarantine-free travel and its capacity to securely and efficiently host large-scale events have made it the top alternative venue for JGW. Since April, the Lion City has lifted pre-departure/on-arrival testing and quarantine requirements for all fully vaccinated visitors*, whereas Hong Kong only recently announced it was putting an end to mandatory hotel quarantine for arrivals.

Only fully vaccinated visitors are permitted to enter and/or remain at the Singapore EXPO to attend JGW Singapore in accordance with government guidelines for large-scale events with more than 500 participants. Exemptions, however, may apply to unvaccinated visitors who meet Singapore’s eligibility requirements.

The full JGW experience will return to Hong Kong in September 2023.

Discover what’s new

Previously known as the September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair, JGW is spread across 35,000 square metres of gross exhibit space. It is segmented into 20+ show floor destinations, including pavilions under the banners of the Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC), Colombia, Germany, Hong Kong, International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA), India, Israel Diamond Institute (IDI), Italy, Japan, Korea, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Türkiye and the US.

Also not to be missed is the Premier Pavilion, a section that highlights rare, exceptional and superbly crafted collections that are an absolute must-see for buyers. Expect to find a breath-taking array of the finest diamonds, coloured gemstones and pearls, and one-of-a-kind and design-focused jewellery handcrafted to perfection in this exclusive section.

JGW is famed for bringing together prominent names in the diamond world. Buyers looking for these gems will discover perfectly cut, flawless diamonds – either loose or set in precious metal – and in a range of hues, including the rarest of fancy colour diamonds, at the Diamond zone and other locations throughout the show.

The fair is also known for its rich and diverse selection of coloured gemstones from premium dealers, cutters and mine-to-market suppliers, with exhibitors ensuring that compelling collections will be on tap at the show.

Likewise, radiant pearls, universally loved for their incomparable lustre and subtle elegance, are among JGW’s showstoppers. Expect suppliers to unveil their finest inventories of loose goods – including parcels, strands, pairs and single gems – and diverse and carefully curated selections of contemporary finished pearl jewellery collections at the fair.

The “everyday luxury” jewellery category, which occupies a sweet spot in the retail space, is expected to be one of the event’s biggest draws. These collections span timeless pieces reinterpreted with a fresh new eye and edgy collections that may be enjoyed season after season.

Extensive resources for lab-grown diamonds – including an impressive array of fresh, chic and classic finished lab-grown diamond jewellery – are expected to turn heads at the fair. Buyers searching for jewellery mountings and findings, tools and equipment, packaging products, technology solutions and gemmological services are anticipated to have a compelling JGW experience, too.
